The MAHRA Commissioner’s Committee in conjunction with  NAHRO will support programs to expand the skills of commissioners to effectively discharge their responsibilities as members of the local housing  agency’s board.  In close partnership with National NAHRO the committee will inform commissioners of the availability of training programs that are necessary for achievement of NAHRO Commissioners Certification (NCC). In addition the committee will inform commissioners of programs to help fulfill their obligations on the board related to oversight of such activities as agency operations and the development of agency strategic plans, succession plans, and  annual budgets.  The committee will support the growth and participation of commissioners in MAHRA by broadening their role in MAHRA leadership. The Committee will also assist with the scheduling of commissioners as speakers and panelists in MAHRA and SERC NAHRO conferences.
