We are so excited to announce the 2020 recipients of the Rose Marie Coughlin Educational Fund Awards! This program was created in memory of one of our former executive directors, and have enabled motivated and talented housing residents from around Maryland to reach their educational and professional self-sufficiency goals. Applicants must be sponsored by a MAHRA member agency and reside in housing owned or managed by the agency; receive a subsidy administered by the agency; or receive assistance through housing and community development agencies or non-profit organizations that are MAHRA members.
This year's recipients are:
Montrae Williams: Sponsored by the Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership, Montrae lives in Elkridge Maryland and recently graduated from Long Reach High School. He was accepted by Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, as well as by Stevenson University, McDaniel College and Albright College which are all in Maryland. He has decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in sports medicine or sports management and ultimately pursue a career as a physical therapist or sports agent. In his words, Montrae wants “to be a positive impact on others and leave a mark no one will forget.”
LaKyah Young: Sponsored by Metropolitan Baltimore Quadel, LaKyah lives in Bel Air, Maryland and recently graduated from Harford Technical School and plans to attend Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. LaKyah loves graphic design and has been in the graphic design program since her first year in high school. She has been recognized by her peers for her talent in making sport graphics and is now interested in pursuing a career as a marketing manager for a sports team or arena.
A BIG Thank You to those agencies who generously contributed to our 2020 Rose Marie Coughlin Educational Fund to make awards to these outstanding graduates possible:
